A Merchant Account is a type of bank account which enables debit card and credit card processing between one party and a bank. Merchant accounts are typically used by e-commerce sites to allow its users to make electronic payments. A merchant account can also serve as an intermediary between an online retailer, payment processor and merchant bank for the event of electronic monetary transactions.
