Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

The FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) is a federal and independent agency which provides insurance for deposits in member banks and thrifts up to $100,000. The FDIC was created by the US Congress in order to stabilize and maintain the countries financial system through the insuring of deposits, managing receiverships, and supervising the safety and operation of consumer protection from financial institutions.
